I wish I could have a 30 hour day so I could sleep more
Yes, I wish I could have a 30 hour day so I could sleep more. Just a few hours is all I ask.
In news today I read Bono from U2 is nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. I am sure this was a slim year with all kinds of global conflict, but is this guy really the face of peace? Doesn't he make commercials for audio file services? He is lauded as being a voice for raising awareness of issues. I missed that in the lyrical refrains 'yeah, yeah, yeah' and such. I actually agree with his cause, but I remain unconvinced this is THE guy who should be doing this sort of work. I am sure he is charismatic, but not sure this is enough to bring the world to galvanize around these issues.
Here's a few excerpts from his commencement speech at Penn May 17, 2004:
"I have to come clean; I've broken a lot of laws, and the ones I haven't I've certainly thought about. I have sinned in thought, word, and deed. God forgive me. Actually God forgave me, but why would you? I'm here getting a doctorate, getting respectable, getting in the good graces of the powers that be, I hope it sends you students a powerful message: Crime does pay."
"The future is not fixed, it's fluid. You can build your own building, or hut or condo, whatever; this is the metaphor part of the speech by the way."

Suppose I should not dog the guy for trying to make a difference in the world. I am just dumbfounded that he could be nominated for a Nobel. I need to go take a nap or something and get over this.
