New blue chair
Ever since we moved to North Carolina, I have been set on finding a recliner to round out our living room. I have always wanted a recliner. Lisa tends to dislike them in appearance and it has been heavily negotiated. She talked me into getting a papisan, which is a round wicker chair. That lasted two days. The second time I sat in the thing it splintered. Quite a blow to the ego, but I think it was faulty craftsmanship, not excess capacity. We managed to get a full refund and had not agreed upon any other chairs since then.
As fate would have it, Lisa wanted to go back to a thrift store she had been to recently to purchase a sweater that she saw there previously. When we returned, with me in tow this time, she could not locate the sweater. She spent much time searching the racks for it. I spent this duration wandering around the periphery of the clothing racks, checking out the nicknacks and garbage available there. Lots of picture frames and lamps, most looking in need of repair. I stumbled upon some furniture and there it was. A blue recliner that perfectly matched the color of our blue couch. I dragged Lisa over. She sat in it. We decided to get it.
Funny side note: Lisa had to sit in it while I went to the ATM to get enough cash to cover the $30 price tag.
We lugged the thing into my trunk and drove slow enough that it made it to our apartment without falling out. We muscled it up the stairs and put it in place and it looks fantastic. It is literally the best possible recliner for our space.
