Technology upgrades
We got an earpiece for our cellphone, I think they call them hands fee accessories. Quite a nice addition. It adds even more functionality to the cell phone as we can really use it in the car now without all that fumbling around. We went direct through Verizon and paid a premium for not going with the generics.
On the other hand, I purchases an AC adapter for our digital camera. I discovered that I can utilize the digital camera as a webcam on the computer, but it zaps through batteries rather quickly. I went to the store where I purchased the camera and they were totally clueless and told me the problem was that my camera was "too old". I had bought this camera at their store a year ago! One year is far less that the time I thought it would take the device to be considered obsolete! Later, I went to Target and I think the poor lad that tried to help me was completely confused as to why I would want such a device, where it could be located, and whether or not they stocked such things. Lastly, I went to Radioshack. Of course, this is where I should have gone first. The guy warned me it is hard to know if the adapter fits without the camera in hand. I shoved my fist in my pocket and pulled the camera out. We tested the adapter in the store and I bought it on the spot for about half what it would have cost to order from Fuji (or elsewhere), not including shipping and handling. Plus the adapter is changeable and can fit two other sized plugs of both positive and negative currents and has several voltage settings - basically a far superior device than other stores offered (they bill these things as "compatible" with a list of cameras instead of offering general universal adapters like the one I ended up with). I patted myself on the back and stored that experience in my mind for future reference. The entire trip to Radioshack was probably half of time I spent at the camera store or Target. They specialize in some weird things, but for something like this I will head their first if there is a next time.
