Silly dragon, myths are for kids

The best explanation for the source of dragon mythology has to factor in the broad appeal and consistency of the dragon across the globe in very diverse cultures. A flying, fire-breathing monster. To date, the best - and simplest - explanation I have heard is meteor showers. Flying fireballs. Real flying fireballs in the sky. Across the globe interpreted only as flying monsters with fire. Sounds like dragons to me.
