It's the gloves
OK, so for the past few years I came to realize that on the highway my gas-guzzling white boat of a car can easily be confused with a police car. Especially at high speeds, where folks actively look for that prototype and slow themselves down whenever in doubt. Recently I have taken to wearing black leather gloves and sunglasses. This heightens the effect such that in town and outside the vehicle - in close proximity - I feel the loathing the police feel daily. People mutter under their breath and stare accusingly at me as I walk by, I swear I heard reference to my gloves as I walked into the drugstore the other day. At a friend's apartment a couple weeks back I had to deny the accusation (of being a cop, undercover I suppose) more than once. This past weekend, people took notice of my gloves and mentioned them as scary. In settings apart from my "cop car" entirely and with references to being in the CIA or whatnot. Leather gloves, the humanity! I just like them is all. Does make me realize how much everyone hates the police - no one was happy to think I could be a cop, all seemed indignant as the supposition.
