Letter to Barry
Yes, I wrote a letter to Barry Bonds. I realized that this guy was centrally located to receive the villification of everything wrong with his industry in every venue he attends. This is not his fault, because he is not in charge. The forces that be should have corrected the problems in the sport years ago. The fact that this did not occur should not be taken out on the best batter of the generation. Other players have done at least as much wrong. Other sports have had at least as many issues. Yet Barry is singled out. I know he's guilty. I know he's a jerk. I don't like him. I just disagree with the mob circling round him like it's a lynching in the making.
What the heck did I write? You want to know don't you? Here is a copy of the actual letter I recently mailed out:

If you can make any of that out, the point is this: as a Christian I should not enjoin in casting stones at people. Guilty or not, it's not my call to make. So I asked the guy to forgive us for giving him such a hard time and to thank him for his performances on the field of play.

I don't know if this is really even him, but someone claiming to be MC Hammer blogging recently posted an open letter to Barry Bonds too: http://mchammer.blogspot.com/2006/03/barry-bonds_09.html
Well, I tried to read the letter (a lot of squinting helped), but when I got to the part where you compare Barry to Jesus Christ, I sort of lost you ...
The point is not to compare Barry to Jesus, the point is that as a Christian, I should not be casting stones and passing judgement (which I have certainly already done here before).
I know, I know ... but it still made me laugh!
