Wesley Snipes?

I only heard of the Wesley Snipes tax evasion case last week, but apparently this dispute has been going on for years. I presumed it was some manner of tax fraud consisting of illegal sheltering of some revenue. I was amazed that it was as simple as Snipes believing that he no longer needed to pay taxes to the IRS. He faxed 16 years in jail and I believe he is remarkably lucky to only receive a 3 year sentence. The two men that guided him in filing fraudulent tax forms were sentenced to 10 years and 4.5 years respectively.
