Nice night
After Sonya's nap today she awoke asking for Mommy. I tried explaining that Mommy was at work this afternoon. It never seemed to sink in though. Later on I made the mistake of saying the word Mommy, to which Sonya grabbed her shoes and ran to the door. I called Lisa as I stepped outside and Lisa invited us to her office. Sonya apparently thought Mommy was on a long walk (which does happen on occasion) because she really wanted to go walking around the neighborhood looking for Mommy. I explained that we had to drive to see her and we set off.
We had a nice, brief tour of the office. It was easy to find, we parked right in front, and Sonya mostly enjoyed running up and down the (thankfully) empty halls. I liked the view from Lisa's office. It was nice to see the years of construction and road repairs in Durham paying off.
After the office we went to Brightleaf Square and had dinner at El Rodeo. Sonya was very well-behaved. However a day after being introduced to cream soda she thought that Daddy's Dos Equis was something she was allowed to sample. She was also disappointed the salsa was not ketchup, but she did not whine. After eating Sonya literally ran around the facilities and especially wore out the stairs inside. It was a nice evening out so keeping up with her was enjoyable.
On the ride home I thought about how much fun we had. It was a short drive, we had easy access to nice places, and the weather was great. I am glad we made Durham our home and look forward to many more nights like this one.
