Lesson Learned
I've been sick for the better part of a week now with what the doctor diagnosed as a secondary infection caught while recovering from a mild cold. I'm taking strong antibiotics and missed three days of work. It's been rough but it looks like I'm coming out OK in the end.
Sonya told me I was taking a long time to get better. I used that moment as an opportunity to speak at length about germs and the transmission from person to person, how she should always be careful when putting a finger in her ear and eyes, etc. A little much, but she seemed to follow me and I repeated my messages for the better part of twenty minutes.
We went downstairs and I thought it would be fun if Sonya parlayed to Lisa what she had learned. Her priceless response:

"I learned it's Sleeping Beauty not Sleeping Booty!"In fairness I did work with her on how to say the name of one of her favorite princesses, so I guess she really did learn something from me. I learned from her that I should not put her on the spot without significant preparation ("now let's go tell Mommy about germs"). I also re-learned that she does listen, very well, and when prompted she can say the most unexpected things.
