Another Junk Email Account
I accepted the offer of a Facebook.com email address. After my recent rant about useless email addresses, this decision does not make sense at first pass. I made the move for one reason, to avoid confusion should other people contact that email address and/or to avoid people using my name to contact my friends: the Facebook email use your actual name in the address (i.e. John.Q.Public@facebook.com) instead of allowing a nickname/handle (i.e. YankeeFan1996@facebook.com). However, I will not actually use the account.
I did not do much research, but according to one article I read the Facebook email lacks a subject line nor can you copy others - both core, essential features of email for over a decade. The subject line is particularly confusing since that is a great place to capture the purpose of the message in a succinct and immediately visible place. Displaying the first line of the message does not seem to work at all the same to me, though I realize in many instances the effect is the same or not much different.
