60 million is not enough

The US built a reserve supply of barrels of oil, which will soon release 30 million barrels back into the US market as part of the International Energy Agency's move to add 60 million barrels to the world market; "to alleviate problems caused by the shutdown of Libyan crude exports by the civil conflict, a move that sent oil prices lower."

As a Reuters article points out 60 million barrels of oil "is just over three days of total U.S. oil consumption or 6.5 days of U.S. gasoline demand." According to data from the US Energy Information Administration, the US consumes 18-20 million barrels of oil every day and over a billion barrels per year. Adding 30 million barrels will help US gas prices, but likely not very much given the scale of consumption easily exceeds the order of relief from the strategic reserves.
