Andy lost the election

My friend Andy decided to run for office in Fairfield, CT. He lost this week in the Town Planning & Zoning Commission election to Joan Neiley. Had 550 voted differently, Andy would have won.

Among his public bio, Andy listed
Key issues:  I am committed to promoting:  more walkable and bike-friendly neighborhoods; a comprehensive affordable housing plan; redevelopment of Kings Highway East and Western Post Road areas with mixed use development; and management of subdivision of property concerns while respecting developers’ rights.

His opponent listed on her bio a lot of real estate experience which apparently outweighed her lackluster responses to a series of questions:
By what standards do you think a Master Plan for the Conservation and Development of a town like Fairfield should be evaluated?
Fairfield Master Plan standards should be evaluated with the highest and conservative development standards to maintain the quality of the town of Fairfield

By what standards do you think the Zoning regulations of a town like Fairfield should be evaluated?
Of the highest for each zone.

By what standards do you think the performance of the TPZ should be measured?
The performance should always be of the highest standards.
