Lasagna at Church

During the mass today, a young boy in the row behind us blurted out very loudly during the chorus of the Hosanna hymn. He inquired, "why is everyone singing about lasagna?"

Here's the Roman Catholic context of the song:

Needless to say I smiled. I held in a laugh until well after we left the church. I could not get over the thoughts that must have been going though this poor kid's head. Did he think religion took a turn from holy bread to Italian pasta sauce and noodles? Was he just really hungry? What did he think all the other lyrics were about? Did he think Mark 11:9 says "Hosanna! Blessed is he that comes with the plate of the food!" So many fun questions we could have asked if we had the chance. :)
