Lisa in politics

Last election I wrote in Ralph Nader for president. It was not the only write-in opportunity I had on the ballot that day. Despite the score of elections, only one other had a write-in slot. It was a county soil post with a single sponsored candidate. I wrote in my wife's name, thinking it amusing to no end. Months later I checked the online results and found that thousands of names were registered for a single vote for the post, leaving the conclusion that many others thought this was funny for themselves to do as well. Names also included Elvis and Zippy the Pinhead.

Just this last week however, something did happen. Lisa received a letter informing her that her application to sit on a county board committee was accepted. It was awesome and I found it inspirational of her to be able to accomplish something like that. I hope that it is a great experience for her, perhaps I can gleam something of the functioning of the government from her role within it now.
