ALDS

The Red Sox made the playoffs as the AL Wild Card entry and the Yankees made the playoffs as the AL East champions. Both teams have identical records. Since both will make the playoffs, there will be no tie-breaking game to determine the champions of the AL East. Instead, the regular season head-to-head record favors the Yankees and they are deemed the AL East champions. Even though both teams sport the same regular season record.

So the Yankees head to California to play the [insert locale name here] Angels. Lost in the debate of the naming of the Angels was the notion they call themselves more accurately and astutely by a geographic term that actually seems to apply better than the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim... how about the Greater Los Angeles Angels. Now that would be marketing!

The Red Sox match up against the White Sox. Where are the other colored sox? Why do teams stretch the imagination for all manner of fathomable animals to mimic in merchandising (the Marlins?) while avoiding the novelty of the colored sock naming scheme. A whole pallet of colors awaits the league to tap.

Predictions: Yankees struggle against Angels. Red Sox struggle against the White Sox. Of course it has to come to the Yankees getting revenge against the Red Sox for last season though!
