Everybody Loves?
I find the popular television sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond the most depressing show on air.
Without the studio laughtrack, the jokes all directly revolve around attacks, slanders, and insults of loved ones. Passive acceptance of the pains and perpetuation of the worst forms of communication persist.
It saddens me that so many Americans find this such a popular comedic format. It saddens me because I think too many people relate to the characters in the show, who oblige each other with pain, who accept defacement, who lack any dignity. Try watching the show without hearing the laughter behind each line and there is a world of sadness on display.
