In a heartbeat

This afternoon Lisa went in for her sonogram. I went in with her. Never mind the midwife and all the talking, for me the entirety of this visit was wrapped within the few seconds we heard our child's tiny heart beating away. It was awesome. Unlike anything I have ever been through in my life. I usually do not get too emotional, but there I was calling Lisa's parents to tell them how beautiful it was to hear their grandchild's heart beating.

It is such a simple thing, hearing that little beat repeating. Every step that gives the child more qualities seems to make everything more real to me and that also brings in more affirmation that this is truly a great and wonderful process that we were meant to undertake. I cannot properly express the sentiment other than to say it was great.

So here's to a little heartbeat!
