Fire
Whenever I feel old or tired I think of this picture:

Nolan Ryan was not a young man when Robin Ventura charged the mound in 1993 - a little over a month before Ryan retired. He was 46 years old when he hit a 26 year old All-Star player with a pitch, punched Ventura repeatedly with his pitching hand when the batter charged the mound, and Ryan even stayed in the game to pitch after the event was over. This man viewed every at bat as a battle and used his internal drive to propel him to strike out more batters than anyone else. That fire comes from within and did more than the ability to throw fast and stay healthy could alone.
I need some of that fire in my life. Not enough to try and be the all-time strikeouts leader, it's too late for that, just enough to get me through the day towards the ends that I need to pursue.
