Thanks Michigan

Despite being totally dominated on all sides of the football, the news of Notre Dame's loss to Georgia Tech was passed over for the Michigan debacle against Appalachian State.

Michigan fell out of the national rankings as the first instance of a team ranked in the Division I-A to lose to a team from Division I-AA (Michigan had been ranked fifth), effectively ending their championship bid the first game of their season. Meanwhile, the rest of Appalachian State's schedule features such teams as Lenoir-Rhyne, Northern Arizona, Wofford, Elon, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, Furman, The Citadel, Western Carolina, & Chattanooga.
On behalf of the entire University of Notre Dame, let me thank Michigan for making everyone ignore how pathetic the ND football team performance was last weekend. Thanks Michigan!

Amen, brother. At least we can take comfort in the face that our young Irish team lost to two Top 15 teams, and there were a couple moments of brilliance in there. Lloyd Carr, on the other hand, will be really lucky if Michigan doesn't give him the ax, finally. Clausen looked good overall against Penn State, but our offensive playcalling still has me baffled...
