8:30 PM
I was in the living room working on my laptop when the phone rang. The caller asked for Lisa and when prompted identified himself as Josh from UNC. I stepped upstairs to see if Lisa would take the call and she decided not to since she did not expect a call and did not know who was calling. I let the caller know she was putting our child to sleep and asked to take a message. They said they would call back and I asked for what purpose. That's when Josh let me know it was for an annual fundraiser. I told him to take our phone number off their calling list (which confused him for some reason) and I proceeded to tell him it was unreasonable to make calls like that at 8:30 PM at night. I told him to let the people in charge where he worked know it was not acceptable to call at that hour in the evening. Josh said nothing so I hung up.
After I let Lisa know, she made the best observation. Experiences like this one make people less likely to donate and more likely to opt out of whatever cause a fundraiser is selling.
