Babe and Paul Bunyan

One of Dylan's Christmas presents was a tiny plastic baseball bat and a big ball on a tee. Sonya confiscated it and wanted to play baseball. We let her take some swings, which was hilarious because she wore a pretty pink ballerina dress and a pink Yankees baseball cap. I decided it was time to purchase her first Wiffleball set.

Sonya made me wear my real baseball glove and I wore my new Yankees cap. She stood six feet away and swung as a left-handed batter even though she writes (and throws) with her right hand. I counted it as a "hit" is she made contact with the ball and on 48 tosses she had 16 hits. I thought that was pretty good and a call to Cooperstown confirmed that is the all-time baseball record for the month of December on my front yard.

After she threw me a bunch of pitches she decided to dig for worms in the yard. I stood by and noticed the dead tree on the edge of the property was not looking very good. It had been probably 60 feet tall and snapped off a third of the way up a year ago. I pulled off a branch and asked Sonya to pick it up and carry it to a safe location. As soon as she moved there I put my arm up and tugged. The entire tree came down. The flawless timing and execution were right out of a film. When I relayed the story to Lisa she asked if Sonya was impressed. I told her it almost seemed like she expected me to be able to do it, her only concern was why I would do such a thing. Well, I am glad the looming threat of a dead tree falling down is no more.
