Soccer
Sonya had her first ever soccer practice last week and two games over the weekend. It is a very enjoyable spectator sport. I am pretty sure no one keep score. The point seems more to be getting the kids to run around and have them eventually understand the basics of the game.
My daughter has all the aggressive bloodlust my mother's family is famous for, which is to say none at all. I've played a bit with her and she does well with one other person, but with a bunch of kids running after the ball her instinct is to stand there and wait for it to come back to her rather than to chase the ball. In addition to picking the grass she has found beads from a broken necklace and a feather on the field. She will hop and dance often. As long as she has fun we will encourage her to become more involved. I expect by the end of the year she will at least understand which direction she should kick the ball and make more attempts to get the ball... more than standing still waiting for it to roll her way.
