Year One Strategy
He may not be able to talk and he wears diapers, but at one year old strategy is present.
He likes to climb on top of things and will reposition something he knows he can stand on top of in order to climb to a higher level that he could not otherwise reach. It's fun to watch, but then we pull him down because he should really not be up there!
He enjoys people. He smiles at you to get your attention and observes yours reactions before mimicking you. Almost every time I tell a joke he laughs and not because he understands anything I say, he knows when a laugh comes in the conversation and he wants to be involved so he laughs.
He enjoys giving things to people. I keep wondering if this comes from a core human predisposition of giving to forge relationships or to instill indebtedness. Whatever the cause, instinctual or strategic, it's sweet.
