Does she read my blog?
Inspired by my blog post about chess, I offered to teach our daughter to play and she accepted with the condition that we complete a game of Candyland first. She's 4 so I obliged.
As I set up the board she identified the king and queen, without any prompting from me. She told me a cartoon character played chess. Then she told me another cartoon character played chess. Then she asked me, "Is chess about thinking?"
We played a little and of course I made her win. I hope to play more often going forward. The following day, on the drive to Church for Easter Sunday mass, she told me she wanted our son to learn when he turns her age so that they can play against each other. She wants to teach him how to play chess. I told her he he needs to be able to speak first and she needs to wait a couple of years.
