Circus!
We were happy to attend the Ringling Brothers circus, Dragons Tour, this past weekend. We went with a friend that has children the same ages as ours, so the trip was a success on that front as well. I found a touching signal of the enjoyment much later in the night, a couple of hours after the children went to sleep. One of them giggled in their sleep. I checked, they were both sound asleep - one of them relived a memory during a dream of the day's fun-filled activities and giggled.
Among the highlights of the circus (pictures courtesy of Google images):
The old staple of the elephant line was not at all surprising, but given the sheer size and grace of the creatures still as amazing as ever.
The kids liked the mechanical dragon the best. Smoke hid the vehicle driving it around and the mouth spit out a stream of green fire. I had not seen green fire before.

The acrobats were all amazing, but the women that suspended themselves by the braids of their hair stuck out. We could not figure out how they accomplished this feat.

The motorcycle act was amazing. They got up to 8 bikes inside the steel cage. According to the evening news there was an accident at the afternoon show after our show, so the imminent danger was definitely very real.

Watching one man control one large cat would be impressive. Watching one man control several was astounding. Twice a particular energetic cat seemed to get too close for even his comfort.
